Amazon builds 1,000th satellite, will launch internet service by end of year

This will likely be pretty successful. I imagine a large push on their site, with hardware deals etc. Maybe offer service as part of the Prime membership for a while. Next up will be phone service, similar to what Starlink is currently aiming for.

In 2023 the FCC reported that about 34% of U.S. households had either only one qualifying home-broadband provider or none. They also found that the less ISP choice an area has, the higher the cost and lower the connection quality.

Amazon rolling in with satellite internet will bring serious competition to the market.
