U.S. tried to restrict Canada's ability to get new trade deals

That single point proves without a doubt that Carney did the right thing by ending negotiations with the US.

It’s one thing to deal with a bully, it’s another thing entirely when that bully tries to restrict who you can talk to and what deals you can make when they are not around.

No sane country can agree to giving up their agency like that, and refusing to even have the conversation is the right approach to make it clear that kind of talk is not acceptable.
