The A.I. Fear Keeping Silicon Valley Up at Night

Article is classic NYT wunderkind puff piece: a controversial industry is crystallized as vigilant to the enormous problems it is creating, yet has no idea of the consequences of its own initiatives. Look into the gem through any facet and these harbingers of literal doom exhibit coruscating genius with their willingness and volition to screw society out of sheer moxy.

You've got to admire the hubris!

Plus we're getting rich af-- Did I mention that I, and everyone around me, make a $million a year salary paid for by goofy loans that can only be repaid if the predicted doom properly manifests?

Oh yeah, he did.

This is a journalism of grift the NYT is well known for: lusty young rogues gentrifying a generation out of its legacy via calculated destruction of others.

This grift has permeated our establishment edifice since JFK got Ford's best & brightest onboard to Taylorize bombing runs over SE Asia: celebrate the boy geniuses as they mortally disrupt others, while maintaining vigilance that they enrich themselves. Yet never a need to forgive them because they know not what they do. Think of decrepit old Robert McNamara's "Fog of war", or Donald Rumsfeld's "unknown knowns" Thank goodness for Errol Morris!

A great scribe has to ride that line; thread that needle. It's all gonna be okay... for me.

Silicon Valley (well, maybe all of America) will soon find out why so many people wanted to leave their homes and go live there instead. Only this time, Americans won't have nowhere else to go.

And if the techbros think they'll continue to live a life of comfort when they're surrounded by millions of the "permanent underclass", they are not creative enough.
