How many women, and it's usually women, are interested in either giving up a career or taking a 6-10 year break from it to have kids (more years if more than 2-3)? This asks a lot from society in terms of parental leave and support, and it's really not helpful to hear "suck it up, have kids rather than a career". That genie's not getting stuffed back into the bottle unless there is significant, somewhat hostile social changes.
