IF Copack LLC d.b.a. Initiative Foods issued the recall after the FDA detected higher‑than‑normal levels of patulin in a sample collected through the agency’s Total Diet Study.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported.

Patulin is a mycotoxin produced by molds that can grow in fruits such as apples. Long-term exposure can lead to adverse health effects, including potential immune suppression, nerve damage, headaches, fever and nausea, according to the FDA.
