Townhall – open-source community chat, no identity verification required

Building an open source alternative to Discord after yesterday's announcement that all users will need to submit face scans or government ID.

Townhall is free, self-hostable, no ads, no AI, no tracking. Just chat.

I'm solo and this is early days, the code is on GitHub but before I go all in I want to see if this is something people actually want. If this sounds like something youd use, signing up for the waitlist at townhall.chat would mean a lot and help me decide if this is worth pursuing.
